Pavement: first show in 10 years
Mar 2nd
Last night in Auckland, Pavement played their first show in 10 years.
After the show, Spiral Stairs blogged about how ‘seriously nervous’ they all were in the lead up to it, and it must be a huge relief for them to get that first gig out of the way. Of course, Sydney is next with shows at Enmore Theatre later this week, of which I’ll be attending on Thursday. To say I’m a wee bit excited, would be a gross understatement at this point in time.
And why not. I never got around to seeing them in the 90s unlike some of you, and those fears I think most of us had about potential sloppiness and lack of rehearsals have been lifted with a bunch of youtube clips emerging today.
Here is a 10 minute long cut of the highlights of last night’s show, including ‘Shady Lane’, ‘Range Life’, ‘Gold Soundz’ w/ acapella intro, ‘Cut Your Hair’ and ‘Spit on a Stranger’..
Spiral Stairs also shared a pic of the setlist for the evening, and it’s further evidence that we are in for real treat.
The Australian leg of their global reunion tour looks like this:
- Thu 4 Mar – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
- Fri 5 Mar – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
- Sat 6 Mar – Golden Plains, Meredith Music Festival
- Sun 7 Mar – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
- Mon 8 Mar – Metro City, Perth
- Wed 10 Mar – The Tivoli, Brisbane
- Fri 12 Mar – Palace Theatre, Melbourne
- Sun 14 Mar – Palace Theatre, Melbourne
Also check out the oz tour poster, with artwork by Paul McNeil who also did a bunch of posters for the band back in the early 90s!
